A weekend looking at the various styles/patterns/ways in which men and women communicate, the differences regulated by our hormones and the cultural effects that hinder good communication skills. All with a view to improving relationships between the sexes whether in the home or in the workplace, amongst friends and family or with colleagues. Understanding how what your mum and dad gave you effects the important relationships you now have in your life.

Pastoral Leadership Short Course

In association with Brentwood Diocesan Commission for Evangelisation and Formation
This is a inique and innovative programme that has been designed to provide personal and professional growth experiences. Fr Bill will be joined by another member of the Mercy Center Team, Mr William Winaski, and the shedule has been designed to include small group sharing, lectures and personal assessment and profile development of each person's pastoral leadership style. The goal is to provide each participant with a pastoral leadership assessment of strengths and weaknesses with professional applications that will empower and renew each pastoral leader so that they can return to their pastoral work renewed and invigorated. This programme can benefit priests/ministers, provincial superiors, head teachers, pastoral assistants, pastoral staff providers, deacons and parish leaders.

Bro. Loughlan Sofield, S.T. is a member of the community of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity. He spends most of his time "on the road," working internationally as a speaker and consultant to Religious Communities and over 200 dioceses and archdioceses on five continents. He is the senior editor of Human Development Magazine. He has served on the faculties and lectured at the Washington Theological Union, Georgetown, Notre Dame, San Francisco and Catholic Universities. He has also served as Director of the Washington Archdiocesan Consultation and Counseling Center; and Assistant Director of the Center for Religion and Psychiatry, Washington, D.C.
Linda Amadeo is a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist who has given workshops in England, Italy, Australia, North and South America and Africa on a variety of topics. Some of these topics are normal psychosexual growth and development, healthy ways of dealing with stress and anger, collaborative ministry, communication skills for every day life. She is executive editor for the quarterly Human Development magazine.

The Person of the Priest : Maintaining Zeal and Commitment in the Midst of Chaos

The role of the priest is becoming more stress-filled as expectations expand. This seminar will focus on the person of the priest and consider issues of interest and concern for priests such as: unrealistic expectations, stress, types of behaviour and deal with the developmental and emotional issues which affect priests.

Collaborative Ministry
Sat 18th - Mon 20th October 2008 In association with Brentwood Diocesan Commission for Evangelisation and Formation
This 3 day programme will focus on the 4 c's of collaborative ministry: clarification, conviction, commitment and capacity/capability. The emphasis will be on addressing the obstacles that impede working together and the skills and processes needed to foster this. Some specific obstacles are: burnout, hostility, conflict, low self-esteem, inadequate human developmet, etc. The processes include methods for discerning gifts and motivating people to use their gifts, working with groups as well as conflict and confrontation management.
Collaboration is always focused on mission, uniting the various gifts in the community in order to advance the mission of Christ and stimulate evangelisation.
